sayre didn’t have notifications on for much on her phone. she despised the distractions that they wrought on her –– how a few simple clicks could lead her down the tunnel of hours on end wasted. it usually ended in her wishing she could have something she could never or wanting to looking like something she could never obtain. the only exception to this rule ? of course, the host of the rank. she always wanted to keep tabs on grace –– and for once –– it came in handy. the vibration on her phone drew her eyes away from the antiquated words that were beginning to mesh together on the paper and towards her screen. a swift swipe and sayre found herself with a face full of something she didn’t expect.
she was scanning the screen –– jaw practically on the floor. her heart was thudding and as she was reading the caption her eyes honed in on one word, a name: elliot. in all other circumstances, she most likely would have gone straight to the source himself ( her boyfriend ), but that didn’t seem like the rational thing to do in this moment. instead, she tossed the book closed, using a pencil as her bookmark. she stormed out of the room and luckily she didn’t even have to waste time putting shoes on. elliot lived in the same house.
without even knocking she pushed the door open expecting to see anything but also expecting not to care about any of it. she had a mission. “do you CARE to explain ? he was with you after all –– it looks like YOU get the credit in this scenario.” she tried to remain calm, but the heat was rising from her chest to her face. it wasn’t just anger, but it was also embarrassment. how could something like this happen ? was she not good enough ?
