I really admire all of the Newman kids for what they have been through. Each of them have made an incredible life for theirselves and their parents would be so proud of them.
Just like the rest of his family, Elliot has a very strong work ethic that was ingrained to him from his parents. Something that he is very much grateful for. He is also incredibly loyal and it the type of person that would do just about for anything- whether it be a friend or stranger. Elliot loves spending any free time that he has either outdoors, with his family, or curled up with a good book. He is very outgoing and adventurous, and always down to try something new!

BACKGROUND / BIO
triggering / sensitive content warning: death, parental death
Elliot James Newman came into the world as a huge surprise for his parents who didn't expect for their baby to be born profoundly Deaf. And something that he will forever be thankful and grateful for, is how instead of his parents running away from the unknown, they threw themselves into learning as much as they could to make sure they gave Elliot the best life they possibly could. From making sure he had access to the communication that worked best for him, American Sign Language, from an early age to enrolling him into preschools that would welcome him with open arms and help Elliot discover the silent world around him. They were the type of parents that fought to make sure that he was treated just as fairly and equal as everyone else and in turn taught Elliot from a very young age to be proud of who he is. That is can do anything he puts his mind to and how to fight for himself like they had done for him since birth.
So when the death of his mother happened, it took a big toll on Elliot who always looked up to her so much. He was always so proud to be her son and wanted to do anything he could to make her happy. While he wanted nothing more than to turn into himself, to push his dad and siblings away and let the pain fester, Elliot did the opposite. Instead he stepped up as much as he could to help his dad and older brothers, to be there for his younger siblings, to help them in whatever way they needed all while pushing down how he felt about the loss of their mother. And in turn as he got older, it became more hard for Elliot to deal with. So once more he refused to let himself truly think about it and instead turned to sports, joining the soccer and baseball team as well as running track all throughout his high school years.
That was until the pain of losing his mother once more reared its head and with nowhere to turn and run to distract himself, Elliot had to face it head on. So while he was finally coping and dealing with that loss years later, it was during that time that he also found himself becoming interested in the medical field. Not quite for sure if it was something he wanted to make a career out of, Elliot enrolled in general education classes for the first two years in college, debating what it was that he wanted to do. Even then the thought of something medical related was at the back of his mind and he found himself becoming irritated with college, feeling like he had no clue what he wanted to do. So after two years, Elliot decided to take time off and instead work at the family's blueberry farm. But he couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow disappointing not only his father but his mother as well- They had always fought so hard for him and Elliot felt like he had given up, that he was stuck in life. When they had taught him to always keep fighting, to prove himself to those who might doubt him. So after a year and a half, Elliot decided that it was time to go back to college.
It ended up being a no brainer once he started looking at careers in the medical field and Elliot almost instantly settled on nursing. The first year of college was a struggle, people telling him that he couldn't become a nurse, that it would be impossible for him to do and while at one point he would have believed them, this time it lit a fire under Elliot. Wanting to prove them all wrong and that he did- He made his way through nursing school and ended up graduating in the top percent of his class. It took a little over a year for Elliot to finally find a job and that ended up being in the ER at the hospital, where he has been working since. While it is emotionally and physically draining at times, Elliot loves it. And when the loss of his father came, it only showed Elliot that yes, he had made the right choice by going into nursing.
The loss of another parent struck Elliot hard but this time instead of trying to run from his feelings about it, Elliot faced them head on. Truly letting himself grieve, to let himself feel the pain from losing two people who had meant the absolute world to him. And if even possible, the loss of his father made him cherish his siblings even more so. Always making sure to make time for them, to spend as much time as he can with them since he knows how precious life can truly be. His siblings mean the world to Elliot and he would do anything for any of them, no question asked.
There is nothing more that Elliot wants than to become a dad and over the last few months, he has been tossing around the idea of adoption. He even started the process of it, though hasn't said much of anything about it to anyone, just in case it doesn't work out. For the longest time, he kept telling himself that he needed to be settled down and married to start a family but knows that isn't the case. That if he could give a child a home that needs one, it's something he wants to do. Besides that, Elliot is very content where he is in life. Glad for the simple days that seems to be more often than not, for the days where he can simply come home to his house and his dog and simply be. Knowing that while there has been so much loss in his life, there is also so much love and joy in it.
