The Year of the Top
2018 was the year of the top for me! I made 3 Elliot sweaters from Helen’s Closet Patterns, 4 Granville blouses from Sewaholic and 2 Archer button-ups from Grainline.
The button up shirts were fun to sew and boosted my confidence as a sewist. It was great fun to use my Liberty London stash. I did slight fbas on both woven patterns and shortened the sleeves just a touch. I prefer the Granville to the Archer, with the tower plackets on the sleeves and the fitted back.
I love a turtleneck and it is fun to have me-mades to wear in the winter, so the Elliot fit the bill. It is an easy sew and I found nice basic knit fabric at my local Joanns. Since these pictures I have cut the elongated back off my gray and burgundy Elliots. At 50 plus years old, though i could use the coverage, the trendy look wasn’t appealing to me.
I look forward to making a sleeveless version of the Granville this spring for summer wear. I have some fabric already slotted for the make!
