was feeling bad about how long ep 4 took to make compared to 1-3 even though it was shorter but then I counted the panels and IT WAS 15!! The others were longer file sizes but typically only 14 panels!!
Not to mention I was drawing multiple things I’m unfamiliar with:
Wolves. I am a people artist and have basically never drawn animals. Wtf is canine anatomy.
Fighting scenes. I’ve done exactly one 4 panel sketch of a fight in a comic class I did 5 years ago, I like how it turned out but certain parts were particularly challenging, especially…
Ellori’s kick. I wanted to convey how she was both a magic user and a dance fighter, so I spent a lot of time trying to choreograph an elaborate cartwheel/backflip/arial sort of physical attack. However, since I myself am not acrobatic at ALL it was a very time consuming challenge. I also was working in a space constriction to give everyone a moment in the first fight and dance fighting would ultimately taken too much space for everyone to have equal ish combat time so I ended up vetoing her getting all gymnastics. Future fights will definitely include that though!!
The spell symbols. I wanted the verbal spell components to be conveyed as symbols rather than miscellaneous Latin or smth. Although the ghost illusion symbol in ep 3 came naturally, the starry wisp, eldritch blast and cure wounds symbols did NOT. They look nice now but BOY was it a struggle.
It’s all fine bc the next three eps will mainly feature character interactions! esp Sagora and Ellori, who are easier to draw for me. Perhaps some bad blood between them might be unveiled. I mean what. Who said that.
