so something we teach kids at the secondary level is to how to track theme and one of the ways in which we do this is by taking the theme and imagining it different ways, like drawing a drawing about the theme or making a video or fake book cover for the book that represents the theme.... it's part of some best practices in the field called universal design for learning which is what it is -- best practices for inclusion basically

and i'm thinking right now of how the best example of this kind of transferring between mediums in order to engage with a text

quite frankly, is dance. dance and theatre tbh, but i'm mostly thinking dance -- the way that seven different styles of dance, with different costuming or different staging, etc etc, will play the same theme seventeen thousand different ways

i'm specifically thinking of ballet because that's my area, y'kno, but you look at say, Giselle or even anyyything by Tchaikovsky--the big classics--and you'll see these themes explored in different stagings, different settings within the classic story and classic themes.

idk, there's something there for me about how we're teaching what feels to me like classic dramaturgy in order to make art and language accessible?
