On this day in 1949, a New York judge threw out a case against Humphrey Bogart after a model accused him of pushing her because she touched his pandas. Yes, you read that right. Bogie and a friend went to the famed El Morocco nightclub, and in order to ward off home-wreckers, they booked a table for four and brought two giant stuffed pandas. Bogart explained: “This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to.
