Beautiful morning to capture some video for my @patreon channel. This week we are painting beautiful and historic @visitelmsprings in Columbia, Tennessee. Last evening I attended a meeting in the home and about 6:30 a momma deer with triplets stepped out of the woods to nibble on the freshly mown lawn and to sneak a nibble or two, I suspect, from the kitchen garden. Luckily I don’t have deer problems at #windyacrecottage, but I would welcome them along with the resident rabbit, skunk, snake, and groundhog. Yesterday, with only a few free minutes and in the company of my dad, attended the July meeting of the #maurycountyhistoricalsociety at historic #elmsprings. They have discovered and recreated the original dining room wallpaper and painted trim. Beauty from Ashes. Lovely yellow daffodils 🌼 growing at Elm Springs, a beautiful antebellum home that experienced one of the darkest eras in our nation’s history. I applaud the SCV for their courage and conviction to honor the legacy and the truth from a time most people want to forget or rewrite or take out of context. It is not possible to sweep a wide brush and paint everything from 1861-1865 with one descriptive word or political catch phrase. There are as many stories as their were people who experienced them.
