“Shedding Expectations” 48 x 36 inches This is my newest painting that is now on display for the “We Are Not Things” art exhibit showing at #RoderickArtspaceLofts in #DTEP. This exhibit celebrates empowered female characters in film and the idea was inspired by some of the programming of the #PlazaFilmFestival . This painting can be read in more than one way. The more obvious reading being the snakes representing members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad from the film Kill Bill. If you take the painting out of the context of the movie, it becomes more of a social commentary on the expectations and roles that women hold in our society and how we have to constantly fight these things.
