Back in the day (early oughts), art students adhered anti George W Bush and @obeygiant stickers, as well as their original prints to power boxes, garbage dumpsters, and the backs of parking signs. I have a nice collection that I captured of them, many on medium format film. Today, the art is city sanctioned, and the downtown power boxes are once again canvases. Others in the near downtown area to the federal and county buildings and hotels sport loteria card designs. This box is at the corner of East Yandell and North Kansas where the locally owned Harding, Orr, and McDaniel funeral home building now undergoes a refit and renovation. Our late friend Jim and his family used to live on the upper floor of the building—like in “My Girl” (1991). #elpasotx #dtep #powerboxart #urbanart (at Funeraria Del Angel-Harding) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqBvETkhqY9/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1kwohnlk19f3s
