of course, i discover that its shisui uchiha's birthday on october 19th, and on october 18th, its asuma sarutobi's birthday. but one day before, on october 17, my actual birthday, there's nobody. and then october 10th, it's naruto's birthday.

literally the characters that i thought had hella aura. bro everyone i see says they share a birthday with a character, but i gotta swing and miss 😭😭 LORD AND on oct 24, it's anko's birthday. fuck me, she's my goat. you hv got to be shitting me.

tho shisui died before the series timeline from danzo, and then asuma was killed by the akatsuki. im next yall.

i wish we got to see more about the daimyo and the twelve guardian ninja kind of shinobi life. to me, asuma's character was given a lot of screen time regarding his strained relationship with the third hokage, his father, and his rebelliousness as a teenager. but it js proved to be a one-off thing, nothing significant.

it wasn't just a teenage angst thing either, like there was easily space to expand on a philosophical reality of whether shinobi should serve and go for the hokage or the daimyo. tho also asuma was probs js trying to get away from his father's shadow too. (ig that's also maybe why we never saw much interaction b/w asuma and konohamaru despite them being the few sarutobi left; asuma didn't want to pressure the sarutobi name and legacy onto him like the third did to him)

but i feel like aside from the asuma death arc, his whole time at the fire temple, supposedly very important but we never get to see it much, and characters like chiriku should hv been seen more. asuma's fighting style is literally a bridge b/w ninja techniques and the spiritual martial arts of the fire temple.

his death was unnecessary. everything abt the episode just looked like fluff to add to the plot. like shikamaru js needed someone to die so it would be more plausible that he went after hidan, completely contradicting his usual personality, and killed him in a revenge/justice thing. asuma's an elite jonin and is extremely powerful. the son of the literal third hokage. he's normally got calm tactical knowledge, so realistically he would've gotten the picture of the situation and backed up, trusting his students.

anyways i js feel like it was incomplete and rushed. felt like a plot device to show shikamaru's rage after losing someone he loved tbh. or maybe im js annoyed i didnt get to see more of those other aspects. im not even a fan of shit like stranger things where the whole fucking cast is alive by the end, motivated by god-knows-what, because it's definitely not grief, loss, or justice. but still. asuma's death was totally trash and an unnecessary waste of a character, and ima die on that hill.
