Her hands trembled, her bottom lip quivered. Her once long and beautiful white hair had been singed off, the jagged edges barely grazed her collarbones.
He rrached out to her, his ears folded back against his head. He opened his muzzle to speak. A look of concern and confusion swirled in his eyes.
"Elrynth, please."
His hand reached for her arm, she twisted her body away from him.
"They killed them Gabe! They ruined everything we built, our children!" Her voice raised as she spoke.
"They purged us by fire, set our home a blaze. Why shouldn't I go after them? Why shouldn't I rip their throats out for what they did to us."
She was lost in her hatred, in her anger and grief.
"A mother should mourn, you need time to-" he spoke again.
"I have no time! They will just attack again. And again and again." Stinging tears fell from her face.
He wrapped his arms around her, she beat her fists on his chest.
A soft whine came from his throat. She was never like this before. Always shy and timid, afraid to speak in large crowds. This anger turned her into someone else, did she even resemble his wife anymore? Could he ever get her back?
She bared her fangs at him, screaming at him.
"I have to go. I have to avenge them, I have to do something. Theyre gone Gabe. why weren't we there? We should have protected them, but we didn't. We failed. I refuse -"
Claws scratch at her cheeks, her hand firmly clamped on her jaw. His blue eyes staring intensely at her.
"Don't you say that. We didn't fail, you didn't fail. We were great parents, we were trying to make the world better for them. Thats why we weren't there."
She just stared at him, her face cold and hard. He rubbed her cheek with his thumb.
"Don't do this. I can't lose you too."
