I got this new app called sleepbot that uses the motion sensor in the phone to tell when you're reaching a point near waking, and wakes you up really gently. 9) Do you need a hug today? As much as Benedict being cast as Khan bothered me (I was really hoping he was Gary Mitchell or someone else), I don't know if having another POC villain is actually a good thing. I'm tired of watching movies about american heroes fighting russian/black/mexican/middle-eastern/whatever villains. We need more racially diverse heroes.

Having another flat, stereotypical POC villain would be a bad thing, definitely, but we're lacking quality POC heroes and villains. Part of the reason people are reacting so strongly to Khan's whitewashing is because it continues the trend of complex characters 'needing' to be white. Then everywhere else you look, the POC villains are offensive cardboard cutouts. It implies that POC's lack depth while white people can be "complicated." 

We're really just in need of quality POC characters all around, in my opinion.

Hi! I've found you through the Facebook page and I have to say that I love your work on the Analyzation Commentary and the YouTube show and I can't wait for new stuff on both projects. I was wondering, what do you think about the 3º season and the fact that most of it's episodes are about Kirk and Spock falling in love with girls and/or flirting with them with no ulterior motive? I know it doesn't prove that Spirk isn't real, but is there a reason for all those episodes to be in the same season?

Indeed there is, actually.

Gene Coon was only involved in the show until 3x06, Spock's Brain. After that he was credited with writing 3x15, but he was no longer involved with the show.

Roddenberry was not the showrunner for season three at all, except for the final episode. (This was due to a bluff the studio called, which he had to follow through with.)

Also, many new writers and directors were brought in for season three that had not previously worked on the show.

What's funny is how the episodes with neither of the Genes' involvement are the ones with OOC behavior (which Nimoy himself has commented on), love interests with no ulterior motive, and less K/S screentime.

There are some exceptions here and there, but by and large the slash is gone when The Genes are gone, and it magically reappears in the last episode when Roddenberry comes back for the finale.
