It wasn’t every day he got to deliver messages for his teachers this far away, and Lumen would have been lying if he’d said he wasn’t looking forward to visiting an unfamiliar kingdom. The only drawback when dealing with other people, of course, was the timing - it was so bright out here during the day!

Somewhere between a two-legged run and a deer-like gallop, he moved quickly and tried his best not to run into too many people. It was always a risk - he was, admittedly, a little bit clumsy. Distractable too; that was probably why he didn’t see the person he found himself crashing into.

  Raven gave a light chuckle from his lips, head dangling from his bedside as he watched Kyle. He never really understood why Kyle cared so much to even come back while Raven was in this state of mind. Even while Kyle was here, Raven didn’t feel the need to smoke or do anything really destructive.

  As his blue eyes pierced through the darkness of his room, he looked over at Kyle with a light smile.

     “If you want piercings… you can just ask me, dude.”

     Kyle laughed and sat the pair of scissors down. He had been joking, and thankfully, it seemed like S-...Raven thought it was funny, too. He exchanged the sharp object for his drink, taking a sip before returning to the game, one of those high difficulty shooters. He wasn’t good at these kind of games, but at least it was entertaining.

     He’d found it easier to just accept Raven than to change his mind. As long as he was still there, Kyle would want to be near him. They were friends after all. A descent into a dark state of mind wasn’t going to change that.

          “Could you imagine how my                mom would react if I had a nose ring?”

     He scrunched his face up and put on his best Sheila Broflovski voice.

          “Kyle! How could you do this                 to yourself!? You’re breakin’ your poor motha’s heart!”

          “Come to get your king back, traitor?”

     The Wizard didn’t usually resort to these methods, but since their last battle, there had been an outcry for some form of punishment within the kingdom. He thought he could kill two birds with one stone by kidnapping the Elf King himself as retribution. Besides, the commoners were beside themselves with excitement at the thought of ending the war once and for all.

          “He’s a little tied up right now,                but I’m sure you can see that.”

     He jutted his thumb toward the elaborate platform to his side where the paladin and princess stood on either side of their captive.

          “Sir Marshwalker...                It sure has been awhile, has it not?”

     The Queen curtsied, showing him the most respect that she could. Though she held a higher status than he, she didn’t treat anyone negatively if she had no reason. The late Elf King’s teachings hadn’t been lost on her. If anything, they were strengthened by Zaron’s current state.

          “How have you been fairing?                I apologize for leaving you to your own devices           in what must be a difficult time for you.”

     Due to her elevation to queen shortly before Zaron fell to ruin, it would have made sense for her to rise into the monarchy. She had sided with the elves and had been inducted into their ranks by the king. It wasn’t right for her to leave Marshwalker alone even though they had become friends. He was coping in his own way, she assumed, and her negligence didn’t help.

     She wished that she could have done something more when things had unfolded, but there was no use in reflecting on past failures. They had to focus on the Zaron ahead of them.
