as circumstances go im pretty busy but..... i had a fun time w art fight last year and i thought i'd do it again this year!! Bringing some new babes to the table~
me and @m00nmeat shoved two ocs together recently and they're a match made in awful monster heaven (mostly tfw-ur-a-vampire-and-u-can't-eat-people-food-anymore themed I guess?????)

been tryin to think of an answer that’s better that “because it’s Good” so i’ve been thinking and i think it has something to do with the intersection of two or more of these ingredients:
-Queer Framing of Monsters/Villains
-Aesthetic Fascination of Consumption/Blood/Murder
-Exploring Power Dynamics and Dark Themes in a space I fully control
I think it’s just something I find interesting, in the way that one would find anything interesting in a fictional space! Like murder or villains or monsters in general.
My writing/development process tends to be a lot of “rule of cool” “rule of funny” “rule of hot”, and then I clean it up later. If an oc of mine eats people, usually it’s because it satisfies one of those rules, then I figure out what it means for them.
Like for instance, Elvis eats people because he is a vampire. One of the things I find interesting about (and core to) his character is the push and pull between the fact that he’s a friendly, well-adjusted, emotionally intelligent person WHO’S ALSO a man-eating monster.
Whereas:
Esme eats people mostly out of a weird, superiority complex. She’s desperate to be seen as “better” or “more than human”, so fashioning herself the predator separates her from “normal” people. She’s a little edgelord.
And I just think things like that make for interesting characters! The aesthetic fascination is just, who knows. Some wires got crossed somewhere.

I ran our third proper mystery in last night and the players got through it in one session with relatively minimal damage!! I'm so proud of them. The monster was a take on a Crocotta- it was big as a bear, bulletproof, and spoke in spooky voices
