For once the wolf found herself walking alone. Well for once since her pregnancy had been discovered. From that moment on there was always someone by her side. Even this was simply a temporary break. A mere ten minutes away sat her sister’s little catering shop. Filled with all sorts of goodies Ruby was insistent she try. Under the redhead’s watch she’d help a little, and eat a lot, before one of the other siblings came to fetch her. It was a very simple plan. This stretch of path walked so often, even the vulnerabilities of pregnancy couldn’t erase the feeling of security she had. At least until the wind shifted. That breeze bringing with it a scent not dealt with in years. For a moment she thought it had to be a trick of the mind. Hormones creating some slight paranoia and throwing in something she would naturally be weary of. Wishful thinking. Of all the senses that could be tricked, her nose was the most difficult to fool. But those moments of doubt robbed her of the chance to flee. She caught that visage as he wandered down the street. Tall and muscled, with a handsome yet intimidating face. One of the many she’d taken to bed during a particularly bad downward spiral. She’d had a type. One she was sorely regretting as he made a bee line straight for her. Keeping her head down and trying to hide behind her hair was worthless. Just as his scent gave him away, her’s did the same.
“You!” His voice was loud. Startling a few other pedestrians that seemed to frantically increase their pace to get away from the scene. She tried to keep moving. Hoping to maybe duck into a side street. Had it been in the earlier stages she would have been fine. She could have scaled up any number of things. Or at the very least attempted to fight. But at this stage her belly was far too big. It threw off her balance, limited what she could climb or grab, and presented a very vulnerable target. He caught her far too easily. Shoving her roughly against the brick with several curses. “Finally found your skanky ass. Look what your fucking beta did?” He pointed out the noticeable scar now cutting through the guy’s left eyebrow. “Jackass threw me down the stairs because of you.” His nostrils flared. Whatever her attempt to sooth had been, it was cut off by a hard slap. Her ears rang and her cheek stung as the flesh went red. “Shut the fuck up. I had to deal with far too much of your shit already. You fucking owe me. Lets go put that mouth to the only thing it’s good for.”
Her eyes went wide at the words. Trying to push him away when he grabbed her arm and started trying to drag her. With certain ones it might have been easier to just let it happen and seek comfort afterwards. But this guy, he’d been one of her worst choices. He’d laughed when telling her about the things he did to some of his victims. There was no qualms about killing those that displeased him. He even did it just for fun. Instinct told her if she didn’t escape now she was never getting back to her family.
