She smiled at his words. They were sweet, she decided. They were like strawberry flavoring. It was good and acceptable and yadda yadda, but it wasnāt the real thing. It didnāt have the at times tangy sweet bite that varied in roughness. Alyssa looked to him from the cars as they passed. She tilted her head and laughed.Ā
It was a brief moment, though. Her unattractive laughter would have caused her hand to cover her mouth, but not in this moment. Alyssa was lost right now. She didnāt need to hide. āI bet your answer is right,ā she replied herself seeming to reach into the depths of her mind as if computing how she hadnāt thought of it before. That was all an act, maybe a poor one, but it was made known by her wide grin.
āA million texts books and links on google probably tell you the same thing,ā Alyssa added nodding.Ā āThat must be the truth, or,ā she began then she paused.Ā āMaybe it isnāt so shallow. Love, even at first sight, is what you make of it,ā she noted her gaze downwards.Ā
āI walked through a museumĀ once, and youāre right. There were a million and one pieces of art I claimed to love in those brief moments,ā Alyssa spoke much softer than she had before. Maybe that was because she wasnāt putting on a show.Ā āNothing compared when I saw my first Magritte,ā she stated her eyes beaming as if she was seeing as she looked from the pavement to the stranger.Ā
āI didnāt love it because it was beautiful or a classic or because I had researched it for eons,ā Alyssa continued mesmerizedĀ by the memory.Ā āI loved it because I could completely understand it. Maybe, I didnāt, and I was lacking. Still, I wanted too. I wanted to depict very color and live in every moment that I first saw it,ā she expressed her eyes changing as the moment was over.Ā āI have had one boyfriend in my entire life, and it wasnāt love at first sight, but he made me giggly and hopeful in those ways. I think love at first sight isnāt always shallow,ā she confirmed with herself. Alyssa smiled.Ā āI ramble. Donāt I, Camera Man,ā Alyssa questioned her eyes settling back to the blur of traffic.Ā
āMagritte.ā
He finally spoke up, the silent man. It wasnāt that the other talked to much, perhaps it was just that he was interested in the way she spoke to defend herself. Defend. What was there to defend again? No, share. She shared a piece of her life, and oddly enough, it piqued his interest. He was always up for a nice story, anyway. Standing firmly, the male soon realized that he had completely let go of his camera to listen, after having looked down at the device which had its strap around his neck. In that split second he couldnāt help but chuckle to himself, reaching up to scratch at the back of his neck in disbelief. He was completely pulled away from his quiet activity.
āLeci n'est pas une pipe. That was my first Magritte.ā With his hands once again surrounding his camera, he took a step closer towards the female and looked around idly, not really in search for anything, just attempting to muster up whatever else he was going to say. Too much. Far too much. He struggled within those very few seconds, but it all fell into place the very moment his gaze fell on her, again. āYou donāt ramble, itās fine ā I have students who are far more talkative like yourself. However, I do apologize for perhaps sounding.. I donāt know.. uptight, at first? Is that even the right word.ā Another chuckle. Realist. āI, too, have experienced that sort of feeling.. Giggly, and hopeful. I guess they are quite similar to the feeling you experience when you āfall in loveā at first sight, but theyāre not quite the same thing. To me, love at first sight isnāt shallow. It just doesnāt exist at all.ā
To seal his response, he donned a little smile and even bowed his head, the gesture out of utmost respect as he realized they hadnāt even exchanged names yet. It made him feel as if he was being outright rude. āMy name is Taewon, though, miss. Camera man is fine but I prefer my name.ā
