Coconut Crab-lor facts: Coconut crabs, while also scavengers like their lesser crab counterparts, they are also —unusually for crabs— predators as well. A nocturnal hunter that likely began as an adaptation necessity, coconut crabs will attack creatures such as large migratory birds if the opportunity arises and one passes by their burrows. However some of the adults have also been spotted climbing trees to directly attack birds as well!
