Did they at least confirm there's gonna be a 3rd movie? Or is it "well maybe one day in 5 years there'll be a TOG3? Either way, thanks for the warning, I guess I'll wait til 3 is out. I wish the movie land would understand the reason that all those procedural dramas and once upon a time MOTW shows were such a big success they could go on and on was that each ep told a whole story, you could randomly tune in one week and have fun for an hour and not feel like you have no clue what you're watching. And I'm aware that with streaming services missing eps is no longer a problem but still... motw shows simply slapped and I miss them. Sorry for rambling. Basically, I agree.

As far as I know they kept it vague for now, but I'm not very up to date because I don't follow interviews, so maybe someone else knows with certainty. Regardless, I doubt it will be happening any time soon.

And god YEAH, I completely agree with you, I miss that kind of show, procedurals are relaxing and tbh tend to do character development a lot better because the writers are not as preoccupied with Advancing The Plot Of The Season, since there's a case-of-the-day kind of format.

Anyway, waiting for the third one is probably not a bad idea.......

ANYWAY absolutely hilarious post, I have never watched the tv show but I am dying at "what if we broke the cycle of violence and got brunch together" because LITERALLY THE BALCONY SCENE. LITERALLY WHAT HAPPENED (I might steal it for a TMFU + text posts post someday, it's been a while since I've last done one of those loool).

Also "I am right about things you have never even heard of", so many Illya faces would go well with that tbh LOOOL

Honestly the more I watch the boat scene the more you can't tell me that Napoleon did not deliberately throw himself off that boat. Nobody falls like that. Stunt people would not fall like that if they were told to make a fall look natural.

Napoleon knew Illya wasn't going to make it. Napoleon knew the chances were they'd both get caught. He looked at the odds and threw his ass off that boat and left Illya as the fall guy and honestly?

I respect it.

Honestly, that would kinda make the whole thing FUNNIER, because Napoleon not only stole a sandwich, sat himself down and happily "watched Illya work", as he was asked, because he's a TEAM PLAYER, but he yeeted himself off the boat ON PURPOSE and left Illya to deal with the whole mess LOOOOOL he's so petty

But ALSO, if he PLANNED it, it makes the fact that he went back even better for me

Like the whole POINT was to let Illya be the fall guy and yet he just HAD to turn back and fish him out of the water, he had a PLAN and then his conscience decided to make an unwelcome appearance LOOOOOL

It kinda reminds me of Napoleon grabbing the watch and keeping it to himself for as long as possible to use it as a trump card, only to eventually say "fuck it" and throw it at Illya as a peace offering

but think about geralt, so lonely for so long, how years become decades and it all just melts into one, how he became so used to sleeping alone (or not sleeping at all), it gnaws at his heart the ache the longing it almost feels surreal because it's so long ago, he almost forgets. almost. and then yen arrives with her cold facade but her gentle fingers on his skin, and he loves her so desperately and the path is long but his heart is full with her now 🥺

The first night he tries to sleep in Yennefer's presence, after, he wakes up in a jolt of panic that he can't name, one hand reaching for his sword and the other searching blindly for Ciri.

She's asleep, peacefully at the moment, curled up on her side, back turned to him. She's close enough that he could touch her if he reached out, but he smothers the urge, not wanting to risk waking her up.

Yennefer is seemingly sleeping in her own bedroll, buried under the covers deep enough that he can only make out her eyes.

They are both still there.

He settles back down without thinking too much about whether he was afraid something had happened to the both of them or that he'd wake up to find that he had been betrayed once again.

He doesn't try to go back to sleep.

(Once, he would stumble across Yennefer and his shoulders would drop in relief, grateful to have her within reach again and anticipating the restful nights he'd spend at her side. There was no more comforting weight than her arm wrapped around his chest, or her head on his shoulder.)

(He doesn't fully realize that that's gone until they have to all try to fit in a single bed for the night, as Ciri wouldn't hear of him taking the floor, and the sound of Yennefer muttering in her sleep jolts him awake in a panic.)

"You look like you are about to drop dead," she hisses, angry and accusatory, her arms crossed tightly against her chest. "Don't think I haven't noticed you staying awake all night. If you want to keep watch, we should at least take turns, before you fall off your horse and give Ciri a heart attack."

"Fine," he says, his eyes focusing on his hands, mending a tear in Ciri's dress. "We'll take turns."

He can feel her suspicious eyes on him as she tries to make sense of the easy win, but he forces himself not to turn around.

(That night, Yennefer takes first watch. Geralt tries to sleep, exhaustion weighting heavily on him and reason telling him that he's being stupid, that she proved that she cares about Ciri and there is no need to drive himself to an early grave out of paranoia, that if she wanted to take her she could just incapacitate him with magic and go—in spite of his best efforts, what few minutes of sleep he gets are plagued by nightmares, familiar hands tearing Ciri from his grasp as his limbs grow heavy, his head clouded like his mind isn't his own anymore and lilac and gooseberries—)

(Yennefer doesn't wake him up for his own turn to keep watch. He really wishes she had.)

Eventually, she catches on, because of course she does.

She doesn't say anything, but she keeps eyeing him a little too knowingly, seems to be often staring at him when he jolts awake from a nightmare.

He gets the urge to apologize, because he doesn't mean to feel this way, but at the same time—she did this. Whenever the realization hits, that he can no longer trust her at his back, not as unthinkingly as before, because trusting her without hesitation is what almost cost him Ciri, the wound of betrayal opens up again.

He'd been so completely relieved and overjoyed, having her back, and she ripped that from him.

She changed her mind, she said. She didn't want to go through with it.

Ciri's special, she said.

He can't help thinking of what would have happened, if Yennefer hadn't seen something worthwhile in her magic. She's special, yes, but she's also his, and he gets the feeling that that wouldn't have been enough for Yennefer to stop.

It hurts in a way that he can't articulate.

(When they decide to rest in a inn for a night, Yennefer asks for two rooms, not even sparing a glance for him. He doesn't correct her, and for the first time in a while, that night he sleeps soundly.)

Trick or treat!

Hiiii, you get, as a treat, a snippet from a wip set in the zombie Illya AU (I have two wips for that verse. this is my life now. this is from the shorter, Just Some Whump, one loool):

“What do you think? I came looking for you. Gaby is playing diversion, but we should go.” Illya gapes. “Wha—what? Why?!” This is ridiculous, he told them— “I told you I was fine, you should have left.” He’s literally always fine, what were they thinking— He doesn’t wait to be done talking as he starts pushing himself up, accepting Solo’s help as he wordlessly slides under his arm, offering to be his crutch. Technically unnecessary, but appreciated all the same. He isn’t sure if attempting to walk on his own would be faster or not, and clearly they don’t have time to waste. “Yeah,” Solo scoffs, his arm wrapped tightly across Illya’s back. “We are not as stupid as you think we are, Peril.” He huffs. “I don’t think you are stupid.” Not in the way he means it, at least. They definitely need to rearrange their priorities, though. “Assholes then!” Solo chimes, lightly. “My mistake, that’s much better.”
