Slipping back into the void as she commonly did, Elynda’s gaze became hollowed, and she seemed mentally gone, sitting in her chair, her fingers tapping at the plush arm of it neurotically.

Bronwyn, meanwhile, stood before a lovely young woman that was little like the physical manifestation of Elynda; Fresh, sun kissed and clear skin, and flowing, lavender hair with glistening eyes, heart shaped pupils set upon him and she curtseyed, a coquettish smile smudging her pinkened lips.

Here’s the “cliffnotes” version though:

About 19 years after she was actually born (over 220 years ago) she found out Alastair, who she’d fallen in love with, was bound to an Odd Keystone and stuck as a Spiritomb, and she only found this information out when he actually transformed back into the Spiritomb. He can’t talk about his curse, and he couldn’t figure out a non-verbal way to tell her sooner. 

So when shit hit the fan, her mother revealed that they didn’t tell her because they tried their best to stop her from seeing him in the first place, so it would have been irrelevant if she’d stayed away from him like she was supposed to.

Because she’s a defiant girl who does wtf her heart wants, always, and would do boundless things for Alastair because she loves him, she tried to immortalize herself to wait for him, so she could see him again.

She used a recipe that calls for the Dragon Force from the old Vale, but whoops, you’re not supposed to do that ever. So she ended up getting sent to another dimension for messing with it. She saw and experienced some pretty messed up shit while there but anyway

Her parents got her out and while she gained immortality, her vocal chords were taken (she used to sing to weave her spells, it did this to stop her from continuing her best magic) and the Dragon Force tainted her soul because she was willing to sacrifice it to see him again (so it granted her wish? just in a REALLY sick way).

So that’s why she’s all fucked up now.

Ellis’ mother, Elynda. Hex Maniac. Over 500 years old--immortalized, but left mute as punishment for misuse of the Dragon Force. She’s enchanted the Odd Keystone to a miniature size, to keep around her neck at all times.

By the time she and Alistair realized their love, he was turned back into a Spiritomb, bound back into the Odd Keystone. She begged her parents--of born magical blood--to provide her immortality as well, so that she could await the 500 years when he would return to human form, and upon their rejection, she attempted a spell herself. 

Misuse of the Dragon Force that bound the magic of the Odd Keystone from the Vale sent her into another dimension--and while her parents eventually rescued their newly immortalized daughter from the dark dimension, her vocal chords were stripped of her to disallow her verbal magic practice, and her spirit was permanently fused with the energy of the corrupted Dragon Force she’d used.
