▲ five times my muse thought about kissing yours, and the one time they did.
(1) The first time Regulus thought about kissing Lily he was fourteen and tagging along with Sirius in Diagon Alley. Walbulgura had sent her sons by themselves to go school supply shopping, not wanting to deal with their bickering or the general annoyance she found them to be. Sirius caught sight of his friends not long after they got there and immediately ditched Regulus. Regulus sighed and looked at his list heading into Flourish and Blotts to buy his new textbooks. While he was in there he decided to kill time and look around for a new book to read in his spare time. As he was searching the shelves for an interesting book he caught sight of some familiar red hair and spotted the muggleborn Sirius’ friend always seemed to be annoying. Sunlight from a nearby window was shining on her hair as she looked at some books and Regulus felt an overwhelming desire to go over and kiss her. He shook his head and quickly smooshed his desire. It would not do for him to be attracted to a muggleborn. Sirius was already a blood traitor; there was no way their parents would accept him being one as well.
(2) Regulus was hurrying through the halls trying to get to his next class when he was bumped into and knocked over by two much bigger and older Slytherins. He sighed as he brushed himself off and started picking up his scattered books and papers. He had just about grabbed everything when someone stuck out their hand with his remaining papers. “Thanks,” he mumbled looking up and meeting the eyes of Lily Evans. His face went red and he quickly snatched them away. He could feel that desire to reach out and kiss her bubble up again so he quickly got up and walked away before his body had the chance to do something stupid.
(3) It was just a normal, boring weekday morning in the Great Hall when Regulus found himself staring over at the Gryffindor table. He was once again staring at the muggleborn prefect: Lily Evans thinking about how much he’d like to hold her or kiss her. Distracted by his crush he spilled his cereal on himself shaking himself out of his daydream. “Damn, mudblood,” he muttered as he cleaned up his mess. The sentiment behind the slur not really there but he couldn’t risk anyone thinking he felt anything positive towards a muggleborn.
(4) He hadn’t meant to tell her about his situation or show her the Dark Mark but once he started talking he couldn’t stop. She was just so empathetic and caring, she drew him in and he had told her everything before he knew it. When she took him to see Dumbledore and the headmaster helped him he was ecstatic. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt as hopeful as this. He hugged Lily tightly almost giving into the urge to kiss her but stopping before he embarrassed himself and upset her. It wouldn’t due to upset his new friend and ally; he certainly didn’t have enough to spare.
(5) The last thing Regulus had expected when he joined the Order of the Phoenix was Sirius to welcome him with open arms. Spending time with his older brother and his friends was very weird for Regulus at first but after a few weeks he started to get used to it. The Marauders, well it was more Sirius and James, had decided to go out to a club one Friday night and dragged Lily and Regulus along with them. Regulus was sitting in the booth watching James and Lily dance frowning as he did so. He kept looking around pretending not to be really watching Lily but the crowd in general but as he had more to drink he started to care less if she or James noticed. He stared longingly at the redhead wanting to be the one dancing with her and pulling her in for a kiss. He sighed and shook his head before taking another sip from his drink. She was with Potter and she was happy; there was nothing he could do about it.
+1 Regulus and Lily were hidden in a tight alleyway on an Order mission watching and waiting for any Death Eaters. They had been in the cramped location for hours now and Regulus was getting more restless by the minute. It didn’t help that the woman he was practically in love with was practically pressed up against him. He couldn’t focus on the mission; his thoughts kept wandering back to Lily’s hair and how he’d like to run his fingers through it or her lips and how he’d like to kiss them. In a spur of the moment decision, he leaned in and kissed her. He immediately blushed and apologized, “Sorry, I don’t know what came over me.”
