#Repost @onthisdateinhiphop (@get_repost) ・・・ #OnThisDateInHipHop, we celebrate #Juneteenth - the effective end of slavery in the Confederate South. Did you know that even though the #EmancipationProclamation declared all slaves to be free January 1, 1863 -- it wasn't until June 19th that word got to the slaves in Texas that the Civil War was over and that they were free? SHEEEESH!!! This is probably why a Black man [PHILIP EMEAGWALI] fathered the internet, lol. -- The fact is: WE STILL AREN'T FREE... -- Physically, yes (not counting the bros incarcerated)... Financially, only a few. Mentally, NOT SO MUCH. I can't really even explain without getting too deep. Maybe #Nas said it best: -- WHAT DO WE OWN? / NOT ENOUGH LAND, NOT ENOUGH HOMES / NOT ENOUGH BANKS, TO GIVE MY BROTHER A LOAN / WHAT DO WE OWN? THE SKIN ON OUT BACKS, WE RUN AND WE ASK FOR REPARATIONS, THEN THEY HIT US WITH TAX / AND INSURANCE IF WE LIVE TO BE OLD, WHAT ABOUT NOW / SO STOP BEING CONTROLLED, WE #BlackZombies -- @Nas
