hey so i’m still new to the whole ESO thing, but i got yelled at in a dungeon for being “useless at DPS” so i went and did research, got all these addons, etc to see if they were right or not bc i’m not about to just give up based on the word of a random jerk. But my brain does NOT like to read walls of numbers... how do you like, understand the fight stats?? and find what’s important in the sea of numbers there? Any tips on how to be better at this? -much love, an anxious ranged stamina dps
1) fuck whoever yelled at you, minimum for making a normal dungeon experience, even dlc, is 20k collective group DPS for me, and if mister hotshot over here isnt pulling 20k individually then he has no leg to stand on. I pull 25k on my comfiest DPS for meta on a dummy, asshole can go git gud or take a chill pill and remember we arent all 90k dps pulling endgamers. Some of us are actually having fun.
2) as for your actual question, the only thing that matters is the total DPS you are pulling. The top right of Combat Metrics is your DPS, but you have to open the full report to get all of the info (aka hotkey it in controls). Everything else is just extra info if you're curious what abilities are helping most with your dps. The one I just posted showed Harmful Winds did the biggest number on the dummy, the Rapid Strikes and Light Attack. I find that helpful because it tells me Relequen is a very good set AND that I'm using it to the best of its ability.
There is also the live window in the corner of your screen, which will show you just your DPS. You can change the add-on settings to make it bigger, show group dps, show heals per second, incoming dps, time in combat, etc. It's helpful for just getting the number quickly and moving on, like in trash fights in dungeons. That's how I got the number of 20k total group dps for making dungeons tolerable, but that doesn't mean I'm rude when the dps is lower. You sign up for a random, you sign up for BC1 with all level 13s AND dlc with 810s.
Take what you get, be kind. Hopefully this was helpful?
