Expectant
The Data Slicer – Expectant is the continuation of a series of projects that combine statistics and utensils used to process food. The previous works embedded the statistics about female fertility into an apple slicer and the sexual behavior of men into a banana slicer. In this variation, the set of data is transmitted through an egg slicer, which has been modified to make physical an otherwise abstract diagram.
The cutters are ready to embed the Kinsey Report into delicious bananas. After slicing the female fertility into an apple, the projects represents the male sexual behavior.
Stipple is pretty impressive
Article updated with Stipple™ embedded graphic, didn't even occur to me to think about that during initial writing, I was so excited to go back! Short post here as I'm headed right back to Stipple, but wow - they put a lot of thought into this. I LOVE how rolling over a photo can produce so much data, especially liking the Twitter stream with the rollover as shown. I can't really imagine all the creative uses this will have as people start using it en masse. I'm scratching my head about monetization because I read too much Fast Company - but am I that far off? If I was Fab, TheCools, or Pinterest just to name a few I'd be up late tonight. Just how much information can one fit into a photo....hmm? That photo might be worth more than a 1000 words now :-)
