I’m very sick right now and can’t be bothered to write or draw anything properly but I remembered the very brief spyro phase I had back when I was like ten and had to cook something
the last two r pictures I dug up from my old scratch account. I was so much better at drawing dragons then especially since I was using a mouse i don’t know how I coped. but give me a break I haven’t drawn any dragon since I was like 12
if for some reason u wanna use these pictures go ahead just make sure my name isn’t anywhere near them
my redesign of ember, based heavily on her original concept from spyro: enter the dragonfly!
ever since i saw ember’s original colors, i’ve been itching to do a take on her inspired by them. if you haven’t seen it, the concept they initially had was a trading card in spyro orange:
(by the way, shoutout to the enter the dragonfly documentary by mr. fo1 for pointing this out! this screenshot is also from that vid)
i honestly dig these colors; i think they fit her name a lot better! still, though, i tried to take inspiration from her colors in a hero’s tail a little - for example, i gave her heterochromia, with one of her eyes being the color they went with in that game.
when planning this out, i wanted to give her a more distinct silhouette from spyro while still keeping some traits from her AHT look. she’s a bit chubbier than spyro and flame in-game, so i used that as a starting point for her overall body type. i gave her longer wings too, just to set her apart more. her face shape in that game always really stood out to me however, so i tried super hard to nail it down!
every other change comes from my interpretation of the pixel art - except for her spots and transparent wings, the latter of which are inspired by these baby dragons from year of the dragon:
it confuses me when people say they don’t want ember to come back in a new game because “oh well she was just an annoying love interest in a hero’s tail! there’s nothing good about her!”
or when people critique that aspect of her, but then force her into a love interest role in their ideas for a remake of her character anyway
a new spyro game would probably be an entirely new “universe,” so IMO it’s silly to restrict her to being sidelined that way.
she shows an interest in the dark gems in AHT, so why not have her be into magic? or maybe she knows a bunch of different elements and teaches them to spyro? and her and spyro could just be cool dragon friends.
the devs of a new game would have so much freedom to do whatever they wanted because it would be THEIR version of the character. she doesn’t have to be “love interest” or “girl spyro”
