Tattoos are a huge part of Polynesian culture, and most Tahitians will have several or many more tattoos. ⠀ ⠀ The word tattoo is Polynesian in origin, and the legend of the god of tattoos, Tohu, tells the story of painting all the fish in the ocean in different colours and beautiful patterns. ⠀ ⠀ This man from the Marquesas Islands epitomises the pride that the Tahitians have in their beautiful tattoos. ⠀ ⠀ #EmbracedByMana @tahititourisme (at Mo'orea)
This huge world sometimes makes me feel very small. I cannot decide if the cloud topped, wild, lush green forests with their cascading waterfalls in the centre of Tahiti are more Lost or Jurassic Park. ⠀ ⠀ I'm expecting to see evidence of both the Dharma Initiative and dinosaurs.
