"Santa Fe eastbound freight approaches Joliet Union Depot behind U28cg, two GP38 (7904....) The ‘in your face’ effect is the result of a 300mm mirror lens. I was working at a camera store and the boss offered it for me to try out. I'm sure it was hand held. The 7904 was one of the ‘U28cg’ units equipped with steam generators for passenger service; with not quite a year before Amtrak was to take over, I'm sure the Santa Fe was glad to find other work for them (as was probably the plan all along.)”
