Ridges formed by past lava flows radiate from Mount Rainier. Emerald Ridge is on the southwest side of the mountain and is possibly named for the lush subalpine meadows that cover the ridge in summer. There are also spectacular views of Tahoma Glacier and Mount Rainier from the ridge. In summer, hikers can start from Longmire or Kautz Creek to reach Emerald Ridge via the Wonderland Trail. Or, you can bicycle Westside Road and hike up to Emerald Ridge via the South Puyallup River Trail. Have you taken in the views from Emerald Ridge?
