#20yearsago on 12-30-99 My #mom was tossed from a horse while @alisalranch up in the Santa Ynez mountain. The #firedepartment and #emergencycrew had to slowly bring her from the mountain to ranch very carefully bc she had no sensation in body. After over month in ICU and hospital she came home with a shell vest that had to worn all day for almost a year. #doctors warned us when she got older #life would be rough BUT if the #surgeons @cottagehospital in @santabarbara could she her today she is a #miracle Her back as a 5” titanium rod holding her up #cheers to #health #life #medicaltechnology https://www.instagram.com/p/B6uM0aZpm5P/?igshid=u65vre3wghfi

This year has been a big year for forest fires in BC. Living way out west on Vancouver Island, we're still affected by all the smoke blowing across the Province. It's currently overcast and hazy, but it isn't cloudy. The road trip with @hvs.xx was incredible. We covered a lot of km in a short time, seeing some amazing sights. But along the way were many scenes of hillsides burned bare, nothing but charred tree trunks scattered like burnt out matchsticks. This picture was taken on the way back near Revelstoke, where we came across two hills ablaze in one valley. It was inspiring to watch the emergency crews work, their helicopters tiny against the inferno but relentless in their efforts. It really does say to me that mother nature is still our mother and that we must respect her no matter how far we go. . . #forestfire #respect #mothernature #emergencycrew #bc #canada #revelstoke
