Ruby actually started BLUSHING when she saw Emerald though. Full on flushed cheeks, just like how they animated Blake and Yang when they hug.

It’s a clean cut sequence of events. Ruby sees Oscar, smiles, goes to check on/hug him...

And then she sees Emerald.

Ruby sees Emerald, and she gets angry, but she’s also flustered. She’s upset, embarrassed, indignant. And you can argue that it’s because she lost to Emerald at Haven, or that it’s because she killed Penny and it came so close to happening again just hours ago, or that Ruby’s just generally at her wit’s end...

But to me it looks more like regret and some kind of self loathing. When I saw that look, all I could think was “I can’t believe I trusted you, I can’t believe I ever liked you.”
