I don't know if I've ever actually promoted my Etsy shop on my Tumblr page!
I am running a sale for 25% off all existing items for the entirety of November, to celebrate fall and the upcoming holiday season. It's my favorite time of year, and this sale is something I have been doing since I started my shop a few years ago!
This sale does NOT apply to my traditional, digital, or shikishi board commissions.
i do desperately need everyone on this website especially people who arent american but want to rag on america to familiarize themselves with the basic romanized spelling conventions of native american languages because every day i come on here and i see people making fun of massachusetts or connecticut or mississippi or passamaquoddy or mashpee or nipissing and its like PLEASE. PLEASE THEY ARENT ENGLISH WORDS. PLEAAAAASEEEEEUUUHHH. USE YOUR MINDS TO IDENTIFY WHEN A WORD LOOKS LIKE IT MAY NOT BE ENGLISH. I DONT CARE IF YOU MAKE FUN OF AMERICA JUST PLEASE STOP BEING RACIST WHILE YOU DO IT
actually fucking disgusting that glasses cost any money like if you actually think about it for more than a few seconds it is so unconscionably inhumane. this goes for things like insulin and mobility aids and hearing aids too ofc but fuck man, fucking glasses? the thing you need to fucking see? its genuinely sickening and inhumanly evil that those cost ANYTHING.
I realized I never responded to this after all this time!! Thank you so much for the ask and I'm sorry that I forgot about it ;w;

What medium do you use most (if applicable, what software)?
I usually use watercolor for traditional media (Holbien is my favorite brand of paint for both watercolor and gouache but really any watercolor is good!)
For digital art I use Procreate on an iPad! Mostly default brushes for that but I've found a few free brush packs for stuff like textured hair and flowers
3. Your favorite piece(s)?
I still struggle with liking my art so my favorite pieces tend to change from day to day, but pretty consistently it's been this one :) I poured a lot of feeling into the original sketch before sitting on it for a while and then deciding to finally finish it
7. Easiest thing for you to draw?
Hands and hair! I focused a lot on gesture drawing hands during art classes in college so I like to think I got pretty good at drawing them with ease, and hair is just really fun to draw in general so my love for fun unique hair styles makes drawing hair really fun!
8. Thing you struggle to draw?
Everything honestly. Even hands and hair on bad days. If my depression gets really really bad I'll completely forget how to draw period
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing?
I've curated a ton of hyper specific music playlists that I sometimes shuffle through, but typically I'm a fan of video essays while drawing. Hazel, Green Dot Aviation, Drew Gooden, Sarah Z, Strange Aeons, and Andy King are some of my favorite Youtubers, but really anything commentary, media analysis, or random scientific stuff floats my boat :)
any plans on drawing hibiki koto too? :3 or maybe UNI's new SynthV outfit?
I love both of them so much!!! I’ve always been a sucker for cute girls with pink hair so honestly? I’ll probably draw them both really soon! I was big on UNI way back when she was released as a Vocaloid so I was stoked when she got a SynthV outfit! 🩷🩷🩷
i can not explain why tumblr continues to purge the most vulnerable of its userbase other than malice. it is unreasonable, unfair, and unjust. it is also an inane way to run a website. on top of that, it directly gimps tumblr's income. why would anyone pay for badges or blazes if they might randomly get deleted the next day? i truly can't wrap my head around the way tumblr admins make these (or any) decisions.
i've sent feedback in the form of a support ticket (via tumblr.com/support) as well as messages on the official blogs. i recommend you do as well. @ing the staff or changes blogs are easy to ignore and have never gotten a response, historically. kick a stink but leave a paper trail. they had to settle this same bigotry within their moderation in court in 2018 after the "porn ban" that disproportionally affected the same demographic. this could be just as problematic for tumblr, and I mentioned that in my message. if this continues, there might be legitimate grounds for another discrimination lawsuit of some kind, so we need to be furious about this. this is completely unacceptable and appallingly insulting behavior for a website that claims to be "the queerest place on the internet".
it was the NYC's commission on human rights that sued tumblr for discrimination. after sending a feedback ticket, why not use the link below where you can report a business (i.e., tumblr) that's discriminated against you?

I originally got this book for myself back in 2017 for my 16th birthday, and it was my first time buying a Japanese import on Amazon, of all places. Frankly, I consider myself lucky that I managed to get away with not getting scammed... is there even a scam market for Japanese Kirby media?
Regardless, this has been one of my favorite books on my shelf ever since. Kirby has always been on the top in terms of my favorite video game franchises, with my very first personal video game being Kirby Super Star Ultra for the Nintendo DS, which I got for my 7th birthday way back in 2008. I still have my original save file 19 years later, completely 100%-ed! Ever since then, I've been a ride or die Kirby fan, playing almost every game, watching the anime front to back multiple times (even in the regretful English dub), consuming as much Kirby media as I possibly can, and drawing many, many Kirbys (Kirbies? Kirbi?) in as many places as possible.
Prior to this book, the only Kirby book on my shelf used to be the small art book packaged with the Special Edition of the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection for the Wii, but that somehow got lost, and most likely discarded, as our house was renovated and reorganized over the years. I would love to get my hands on a copy of that again, but I'm content with what I have now, of course! And, thankfully, I do still have the music CD bundled with the Wii game, as well as the game itself, so I truly have nothing to be complaining about.
As is publicly available, the Kirby 20th Anniversary Encyclopedia has 240 pages documenting the 20 years of Kirby games and media up to 2012, with the final game documented within the book being Kirby's Return to Dreamland for the Wii. The book is split up into well-organized sections, starting with main character introductions before transitioning into segments about each game up to 2012. Each section features key art, concept designs, game renders, screenshots, trivia, and commentary about each one's development. Around halfway through the book are sketches directly from the development room, featuring my favorite pieces of Kirby art on page 120, where his poses are sketched next to a drawn human model to get the dynamics of his movement down.
Following the games, there's a very generous section of the book dedicated to the Kirby Right Back At Ya! anime, with the same assortment of content- concepts, keys, still frames, screenshots, and developer and artist commentary about the show. I'm not entirely sure about the general consensus of the Kirby anime, but I personally enjoyed it quite a bit on my first few watches, and certainly prefer the original Japanese dub over the English one, so being able to see glimpses into how the show came about through this book was a wonderful read!
The final section of the book is dedicated to Kirby's various manga spinoffs, including "Kirby of the Stars" by Sakuma Yoshiko, "Kirby Manga Mania" by Hirokazu Hikawa, and "Kirby of the Stars! Moretsu Pupupu Hour!" by Asami Taniguchi, these artists of which, among others, also provided celebratory illustrations for Kirby's 20th birthday at the start of the book. Segments of the manga are available for each, as well as artist commentary and notes!
Overall, I truly feel like Kirby's 20th Anniversary Encyclopedia is the best piece of Kirby media that stands today, with just how much information is packaged into such a small book. But 240 pages is really nothing to sneeze at! It's one of those books that you notice something new from every time you flip through it, and it takes multiple reads to truly digest everything... at least for me. But I cannot state enough just how much I love this book and how much it means to me.
It is a mild shame that this was never localized in English, and it doesn't seem like there's any intention to bring this to western audiences now that so much time has passed. Just a bare minimum amount of research brought me to a Reddit thread from 10 years ago about a translation project for this book on Kirby's Rainbow Resort, but it doesn't seem like any further development on that project has taken place, nor did the thread get much overall attention. Which does suck, at least to me. I'm very happy that scans exist of this book, but if anyone has any current progress or wants to kickstart another attempt at mass translating this wonderful book, I would love to have a part in helping out!
honestly discord removing the four digit id code at the end of usernames still remains as one of the most baffling things any site has done with their usernames. not having to have every user find a unique name for themselves seems like such a logical thing to allow with how big many sites are, and discord had the system in place since the beginning. but apparently that's too confusing and making the entire userbase select a new name is in fact the best solution. insane behavior
