Eidolon’s relationship
with HABIT
Eidolon and HABIT might be the most confusing things I’ve ever thought about though Eidolon does eventually have a romance with him. Their relationship is a sacrament defined by mutual, seething distaste and obsessive romance. Eidolon even goes as far as to stalk HABIT.
Eidolon finds HABIT crass and inelegant. To Eidolon, Habit is the “rod that breaks too soon”, all noise, spectacle, and immediate pain. Eidolon resents how Habit sometimes disrupts his carefully cultivated cycles. But even with that, he harbors quite the bit of respect for HABIT.
HABIT views Eidolon’s as stifling and boring compared to his own work. He doesn’t understand nor sympathize with Eidolon’s pity for Evan.
But even under all that, they are addicted to one another, and their connection is more of a mutual understanding.
Eidolon’s True Form
While he is a lot like Habit, Eidolon coalesces in liminal spaces of suffering, the dim prayer rooms where a child is beaten for doubt, the isolation cells of church run “homes” where “demons” are driven out with starvation and scripture, the family altars where siblings are pitted against each other in tests of purity, or the hushed funerals where a teen’s suicide is reframed as “returning to the Lord” after they could no longer bear the shame.
Motivations and Methods
Eidolon exists to force the world to confront the outcome of pushed beliefs, broken children who become broken adults, families destroyed by zeal, deaths dismissed as “God’s plan.” He does not seek simple destruction but perpetual exposure and ironic punishment. Victims are made to live, or die, and face consequences they inflicted or enabled.
Currently his lore is a work in progress, but he possesses a young man named Shiloh > Here
