DIY Wireless Motion Detector
So I know we've kinda gone over this, but today's video will have sound incorporated, so I thought I might as well put up a post with the information:
Base Node Set Up:
Base Node Code: http://pastebin.com/8F7atXRH
Base Node Hardware:
Remote Node Set Up:
Remote Node Code: http://pastebin.com/GjA3wiKv
Remote Node Hardware:
And when the PIR sensor senses something happening, you will hear "Intruder Detected!"

DIY Wireless Zombie Bait
So hopefully by now you've seen today's video, but here's the code and information you'll need to set it up yourself! And for those who don't know what this is, it's a wireless zombie bait/distractor. When you move the switch to a different position, the Emic2 (text to speech module) in the stuffed animal says stuff to distract zombies!
Base Node Setup:
Code: http://pastebin.com/8R1vfJbc
Hardware:
Remote Node Set Up:
Code: http://pastebin.com/5RqkQgNJ
Hardware:
This one's a bit more complex. We have connections from the Emic2 to the Propeller and to the speaker. Then we have connections going from the LED pin on the propeller to the LED array, but through some 2n3904 action. I originally thought that was for amplification, but I think it's actually so that when the text is spoken, the LED flashes accordingly.
So when you run the code, you should get 5 different statements depending on which direction the joystick is pointed in :)
ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE ZOMBIES?!

Module Intro: Here (video)
Emic 2 now available at Parallax!
So if you've followed First Spin or watch our videos, you'll know we've been playing with the latest module from Parallax. It's a multi-lingual speech-to-text module created by our buddy Joe Grand of Grand Idea Studios!
All of the details (manual/samples) can be found here.
So the module runs simply off of 5v, and has six pins to it - GND, 5V, SOUT (serial out), SIN (serial in), SP-, and SP+ for hooking up an 8ohm speaker to it. It also has a 1/8" headphone jack that you can just plug your headphones into or treat as a line out. Whisker's found that handy for getting Emic samples for songs.
Here are some of the features it's got according to the website (and based on what I've tested with it):
High-quality speech synthesis for English and Spanish languages
Nine pre-defined voice styles comprising male, female, and child
Dynamic control of speech and voice characteristics, including pitch, speaking rate, and word emphasis
Industry-standard DECtalk text-to-speech synthesizer engine (5.0.E1)
It's all controllable via Serial Terminal too. Essentially, if you type text while it's on, it will speak what you type. So if you type :-)8 before your text, you'll hear a female voice speaking your text.
And just a few things you can try:
My emic has a :-)0 voice :-)1 voice :-)2 voice :-)3 voice :-)4 voice :-)5 voice :-)6 voice :-)7 voice :-)8 voice
:-)8Welcome!to First Spin. A show! where I learn how to use the Parallax Propeller without having /\/\any prior \/\/ programming experience. >>Rather than do this!<< on my own. I have enlisted! the help. of two experts.
So some things I've played with is using only periods and exclamation marks to add inflection on Emic speech as well as using /\/\ and \/\/ to change the pitch or >>>> and <<<< to change the speed. Lots of other neat things to try and make the voice sound more human like!

I'll put the link to the video here when we get it up as well!
