@stcnehearts / the blackout with emiko.
it's never dawned on claire that she could be afraid of the dark, a darkness that she couldn't control. the tears in the woman's eyes spelled pr nightmare so she should have been thankful she was in a dimly lit room. however, the shadows were playing with her. she'd seen damon, twice and now that's starting to worry her. an empty flute glass visibly shaking in her hand, she takes the initiative to place it down in the table so that it's not obvious. something had triggered this reaction in her, initiated the somewhat simulation of her attempting to follow her father around an event, doing her best not to bring shame to him. now, it felt like she was doing exactly that as tears begin to roll down her cheek. claire doesn't go to wipe them straight away, instead, she waits a few moments before lightly sweeping her face with her fingertips - she hoped it wouldn't bring much attention compared to a very sudden movement.
was she having a breakdown? the woman had some wobbles, some doubt setting in but she'd been doing well considering she has a baby and is keeping stoneage going. it's dark, something about it doesn't make her feel safe and it feels as if the ghosts of her past are closing in on her: damon, rowan, opal... she sees them all and they all merge into one. looking frantically from one direction to the next has been making her dizzy throughout the evening. holding her hand up (still shaking), claire stone keeps her head down. "i think it's the drink." she tries to convince herself that a build up of unresolved trauma isn't to blame. "i'm alright, i'm alright, i'm alright."
