To Be Titled Later | | MacClarke
Flying. Seth hated it. Especially long-haul flights. London to Los Angeles was the longest he had ever flown, and he hated every second of the time he had to spend in the air. But he'd always preferred to record overseas, and so when he wanted to record his fourth album, the trip had had to be made. The only issue was, he didn't really get to explore the city as much as he would have liked to. Of course, he'd seen the major landmarks, but he'd always found the hidden gems seemed to be far away from the tourist sites.
He supposed it didn't matter now, either way. He'd be back sooner rather than later, but now he was heading home to what really mattered: his family. It was something to look forward to on the flight, but he had to get to sleep first. He was beyond exhausted, and needed a good nap, if he could.
He woke up, and realised they were on the descent into the city. He always seemed to fall asleep on planes and wake up at the end of the journey. Maybe it was because he spent quite a bit of time on them. He could always blame it on the change in altitude, though. Or he could blame it on the pure excitement of knowing soon he would be at home with his wife, their almost eighteen month old son, and their cat, Hank. It truly felt like it had been forever since he had seen them. It felt like it had been forever since he had spent some quality time together, as a family. Truth be told, it had probably been awhile. They had both been incredibly busy, Seth with Family Guy, American Dad and his brand new show. Emilia had been busy with Me Before You and Game of Thrones. When one was at work, the other was looking after the house, and most importantly, Brenton. It really did feel like they'd seen each other for an hour at most.
But, the main thing, through it all, they had kept going strong. Even if they had been apart physically, they always found time to see each other over skype or even FaceTime. It was vital, he always thought so. At least they saw each other, even if it was through a screen. He'd always been busy, but now he was making sure it did not affect his relationship with his wife. He'd rather not lose what he loved again. Things were working and he would make sure it would remain that way.
His flight had landed, and he'd been far too focused on his own thoughts to notice. Well, in his defence, he had a lot going on. His mind was constantly racing. The fact he could even sleep was a miracle. However, he knew tonight he'd probably be able to get a good sleep. He'd be home, that would ease his anxiety. He retrieved his luggage, and the trip home seemed to pass with ease. It seemed to be very short, giving the way traffic in LA tended to be, it was a nice surprise. He was just glad he didn't have time to think much, from one point to the next.
Pulling up to the driveway, he spent as little time getting out of his car as possible. He debated taking his suitcase in with him, or leaving it for later, but he decided he would probably forget if he didn't take it in with him. He was busy, but apparently he still had time to overthink situations. As soon as he stepped into their home, he was met by everything familiar, the smell, the way everything looked. And the best thing however, was his soon coming round the corner and putting his hands up to him as he saw him, talking a senseless babble. He dropped his luggage and picked him up, hugging him tight.
" How's my boy, then? "
At that point, he wanted to be put down and explore the world once more, and he happily let him. Well, at least he'd gotten one hug. He'd have to get a second one from someone else. Following his son into the living room, he found his wife there too. God, did she bring a smile upon his face whenever they saw each other face to face. It was probably because she meant so much to him, more than she probably realised.
" Hey, darling, " he remarked as he brought her into a hug, a hug he didn't realise he'd needed until it was happening.
" Have I missed much? "
