A Love Note for our nearest Star

I watch you slip behind the autumn clouds and feel the October chill of a sunless sky sink into my bones.

Your pink-orange-green-blue skyline above the western hills of the Rose City gently soothes my soul.

I feel the urge to strip off my clothes and melt into the earth. 

But somehow I think the family nearby might mind that, and so I don't.

How I wish this world was seen more clearly, less judged by the people who walk it

Day in and day out,

Distracting ourselves with food and drink, instead of reveling in our great abundance.

Distractions of countless ideas and things,

stuff and words.

To worship our time together on this planet, your fuchsia mountains proclaim, is the greatest power and gift we possess!

Thank you for your energy and inspiration, for your light and your love, and for never ceasing to let us circle you with undying gratitude.

Your grace will outlive us, unfailingly sustaining us.

You will continue your never-ending journey and sink beyond the horizon’s edge each evening, loving and gentle, to reappear in the morning.

It does not matter if we are here to witness your beautiful arc or not.

And for that, you have my deepest gratitude and appreciation.

Thank you, for energy, for life, for all of you.
