i’ve been rewatching until dawn a lot lately and can i just say: emily kinda has a right to be an uptight bitch.
at every point you can, matt will always find a way to question what she’s doing. whether if she’s really meeting up with sam, if she wants to go to the fire tower, if she should break down the door with an axe, if she has a right to be upset with jess, etc.
if you notice, it’s only when you’re playing as matt with emily do you get these kinds of options where you actively choose to disagree with her. any other character interaction doesn’t have this amount of choices relating to doubting the decision making ability of the person you’re with.
the closest to this is chris doubting ashley really saw a ghost, but even in that instance, you’re playing as ashley and you understand the frustration of someone not trusting you.
i think a lot of players forget that she is smart and tactful and logical, but at every point she tries to make a decision, everyone always second guesses either her or her intentions.
now, i will say that her lying to matt in the beginning of the game may be the reason why he’s so distrustful and often second guesses her, but then it brings the question: does he always second guess her because she always lies, or does she lie because he never trusts her?
