i believe emily wirth is the name of the 5th friend we didn’t see before now (got her name from a comment on reddit + noticed the tattoos seem to line up on her instagram!)

Impressions from the latest Smosh Games Spencer Birthday UNO Championship special video, since the intro and atmosphere got me instantly hooked:

The moment Eli and Angela paired up, I knew this video will go down in history. I'm completely confident he's gonna end up in the cast.

Of all the new-old cast pair-ups, only Damien and Arasha are left to pair with themselves, which leaves me bummed they won't be interacting much with other new faces. But at least they got Courtney Theopin (with Olivia), so it'll still be interesting

Courtney and Tommy's chemistry with Jared Goldstein and Emily Wirth (finally we got a name for that other new girl!) feels seamless—not bad for the first video of its kind.

Doing Instagram background research on Jared and Emily as we speak; I'm so glad we're getting Wasian rep in Jared!

JARED WAS IN AFTER MIDNIGHT? FUCK, I missed that show so much.

Both Jared and Emily are standup comics! And have lived in New York at some point!

Jared gives off some nonchalant energy when it comes to his chemistry with the old cast. He reminds me of Arasha in a way, sometimes.

And he makes silly faces, too... I think we kind of need him in the cast? (Though that would mean more male members compared to female ones)

Right now I feel a bit of disconnect with Emily, but then again, this is my first time watching her in any Smosh video, at all.

I feel like the Court/Jared vs. Emily/Tommy battle is just the first part, no? Then I'm bummed that I'll have to wait until Sunday for part 2.

I just realized. We may be getting our own version of Dropout's Zac Oyama...

After watching the rest of the video, I feel Jared may be in the running for Smosh's next cast member. Emily somehow just didn't click for me (though I do hope she has another video filmed with the old castmates soon!)

Also, happy birthday to Spencer, whom he's getting this year, like every other year.

Here's some thoughts about the new cast that I've been having, specifically thinking if I was in charge of programming at Smosh how would I showcase these ppl in the best light. Cause I feel like from that perspective the way they went about this makes perfect sense.

From what Ive seen of these ppl looking at their socials it looks like Eli is part of the LA improv scene and worked with Angela before so pairing him with her is a gimme, given how he would be able to lock in with Angela's tangent improv bits in videos. He also seems to enjoy social deduction games so it was great to cast him in Dead Last that game they played. Idk if they asked him what kinda games he's good at to cast him but my man knew the solution to the prisoner dilema that I learned in a philosophy class lol

Courtney T if you go to his tiktok, he's kina doing the same genre of comedy as Ashby, like putting on a silly outfit and doing a character. So ofc he shined in the new TNTL, it was in his wheelhouse. I think legit they only cast him in that Assumption vid about turning 30 cause he's the person from the new ones thats closer to 30 lmao

Now, Emily and Jared seem to be doing standup as their main thing. That is a very different set of skills than the usual Smosh stuff that leans into improv and riffing. If you are a person that tells funny stories and finds the humor in various situations, what Smosh format would you shine in? Reddit Stories for sure cause it literally gives you the opportunity to find clever observations about random situations. You can even sneak in some material like a 2 minutes bit like "oh this story actually reminds me of this time I did this and that". And then if its a game, it should be an easy game thats not too hard to follow and that goes on for a while so you have time to get into some funny stories and stuff like that. I think I would have chosen the exact same formats for these two to introduce them in a favorable light. I think unfortunately, and I'm not throwing shade, its our og castmembers that kinda screw over these new people in these videos. In Jared's Reddit ep Chanse literally gave him nothing, no reaction, and Shayne seemed to be a bit tired prolly from shooting so much stuff so his reactions were also very low energy. You can tell the funniest standup routine if ppl don't laugh it looks like you bombed and tried too hard to be funny but failed. In the Uno video, we had the exact opposite, Courtney and Tommy were so high energy, like more than usual, constantly giggling, fidgeting and saying silly stuff, that Jared and Emily basically had to play catch up to keep up with them and could never settle into a groove or a comedic rhythm. So again it showed that they were trying to match the energy and it came across as "trying to hard". I really hope we get to see these two in videos where the energy and vibes matches more their speee and style of comedy

Guhci is just a naturally charismatic and funny person I have no other thoughts on her she's awesome!!

I know, right?!? Especially the Courtney’s, they have like 8 billion of them working there! When Spencer introduced another, I literally got whiplash 😭. I thought I misheard him, but no, we may be getting the 8,000,000,001 Courtney 😆. I’m heavily exaggerating on the number, but there really is a lot lmao. I wonder if they ever poke fun at that. They never acknowledge the amount of people who share the same name, at least not that I know of. But, they for sure have to off camera. There’s no way they don’t share a little chuckle about it!
