“You Read Me Wrong”
Emilyn Brodsky’s totally elegant vibes while performing “You Read Me Wrong.” Totally legit! Lovin’ those sweet vocal harmonies!
Always think of this song when people misread me due to their own ignorance of who I truly am (combined with false awareness).
GOOD SOUNDS:
37. EMILYN BRODSKY
Hailing from New York, USA is the one-and-only Emilyn Brodsky! Totally Ukelele-Core/ArtPunk/IndieFolk/Ukelele-Power - Brodsky’s sound is purely magical. Without a doubt one of the best singer-songwriters of our time - Brodsky’s excellence is defined by her insightful, heartfelt, and absolutely meaningful voice (and super catchy and hook-friendly tunes) while also remaining expressively articulate and vibrantly abstract at times.
Emilyn Brodsky has an unparalleled ability of being an introspective extrovert (or an outlandish introvert???). Brodsky’s combined efforts of her music and her totally rad music videos are truly inspiring (with a slightly simplistic brilliance, all-the-while being entirely complex; especially the more one explores her musical arrangements with various instrumentation).
Brodsky’s optimism-despite-adversity attitude shines through playfully throughout her songs. There’s an admirable spirit at the helm of the pen-and-paper (or keyboard-and-screen hahaha), which shows off Brodsky’s hopeful nature amidst overcoming struggle. Her music can be very encouraging and uplifting (as much as it can be melodic and hum-friendly). There are times when listening to Emilyn Brodsky’s music that one could close one’s eyes and almost hear the sounds of angels singing to the soul (if that makes sense to anyone else in the world out there). Totally positive vibes galore.
The beauty of Brodsky’s work is the pure sophistication (while still remaining awesomely juvenile at times) in the songwriting. Her music is so damn good. The lyrical content profoundly transcends the average indie effort in the modern music scene due to Brodsky’s creatively expressive authenticity & intelligence & heart. Emilyn Brodsky’s upbeat optimism, friendly vibes, and overall expression is entirely evident in her musical work. More people should know this artist and more people should support amazing musicians such as Emilyn Brodsky (and a bunch of super talented artists in the real music scene that are keeping awesome Art & Music alive). SO RAD.
Happy Listening!
My sweater continued to get caught on my heel, and I saw some rad burlesque last night...so this free style ended up like this🤗 #polefit #emilynbrodsky #contemporarypoledance #findingyourfreestyle (at PoleFit Carolinas)
today you can buy 'emilyn brodsky eats her feelings'!
today is the day my album EMILYN BRODSKY EATS HER FEELINGS is released into the world. it's available for purchase on itunes and bandcamp and if you click either of those words you can buy it. i am really proud of it and it took me a long time and lot of journeying to get it done.
i am very grateful to the people who helped me. my old friend franz nicolay produced it with me, and without him it would be a completely different record, probably one that feels less true to who i am at this point. it's an amazing thing to work with people who really know you and your strengths, it makes it easy. the simultaneously ethereal and grounding emily hope price lent her cello and vocals, and there is a song that we co-wrote on the record called 'lot's wife vs. eurydice' that is spooky and beautiful and that i am very proud of. the backbone of the record is amazing drummer john bollinger and bassist david kururtz. they are both exceptional musicians and human beings and their (please forgive me for this word) vibes - both musically and human-ly - really set the tone for the whole record.
there are a million other people to thank. my family. anyone who encouraged me to keep making music during some pretty crappy years. everyone who worked on the record. all the people who's voicemails appear on the record. all the people who have ever left me voicemails. the people who have helped me with the videos (WHICH WILL BE COMING SOON AND ARE AMAZING). the people who loaned gear. anyone i've ever dated. the people who nagged me about my songs on the internet. the person who sold me the computer i use to make stuff. my amazing friends. aubergine, my home of 10 years. the person who helped put the record out. the people who believed in me. my therapist. a bunch of people in tennessee. you. YOU.
i dunno, i know there is a surprising lack of caps lock in this message, which is unlike me. but it's a big moment in my life and i just kind of want to whisper into your ear "i am so grateful" because i am and i think gratitude is contagious. i hope you find something to be grateful for today.
