it had been a small gig , maybe two hundred people , in a small club on the los angeles strip. just him , the band , some background singers and his whole album. it was easy to get lost in the music when it was this intimate a venue. he'd finished with jackie & wilson , though usually he'd have put it in the beginning of the set to bring the energy up. once he finished and the regular music came back on , drink in hand , he made his way over to delphine , who was waiting backstage. " so that last one , what did you think ? " he asked , leaning the bottom of his glass on his guitar that still hung from the strap on his shoulder. " think we could make a music video for that ? i want it to feel like that performance did. "
