➡️Mirror #2 Segunda y última parte de Mirror. No me atrevo a decir mucho de este cómic por que literalmente me supera. Es una maravilla narrativa y visual, muy original en ambos campos y en la que podrías perderte entre sus páginas. A mi me ha pasado por que me ha costado un poco entender lo que iba ocurriendo, claro que soy un poco zote. No es un cómic "fácil". Integra muchos conceptos que tardas en afianzar y entender como funciona el universo que las autoras han creado. Pero en el momento que superas ese escalón te encuentras un universo y unos personajes ricos e interesantes y merece mucho la pena. ¿Habéis visto que pasada de composición de páginas tiene? Son dignas de estudio. Day 10/100 (ignore the billion days I skipped in between thx). Deathface Ginny is hands down one of the coolest characters I've ever seen. I don't know what it is about her that makes her so BADASS. Perhaps the fact that she is God. Mortal. Reaper of Vengeance. I had to get my admiration out of my system so here we are. Mirror by Hwei Lim & Emma Rios

Can I be honest for a minute here? I love, love, love this new comic, Mirror, by Emma Rios and Hwei Lim, but I have absolutely no idea what’s going on in it. It’s my fault though. Fantasy comics are too complicated for my tiny brain. What I love about it—and why I’m going to keep reading it like the tourist that I am—is that the graphic work is ah-mazing. And also because I’m generally interested when two women team up to make something totally new and unexpected. This is a comic like nothing you’ve ever read before.

Rios and Lim are both illustrators and writers, making for an interesting collaboration. It seems like Hwei does most of the illustration, but Rios’ unique panel layout is evident throughout. Both simply credit each other as “creators.” They met in 2008 through Lingua Comica, a comics workshop organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) where they were paired up representatives from Asia and Europe. Rios is from Spain, and I’m not sure where Hwei is from.

Because I lack understanding of this comic, I’ll just describe my enthusiasm for it. The graphics have so much emotion, movement and dimensionality. The coloring is juicy. The characters have expressive physicality, and are so inventive—an albino-like mouse-person, an indentured bear, a vampire witch, a prince, a bull guardian, a talking cat. At least that’s what I think they are. This comic is a pure pleasure to simply look at. And maybe that’s why I’ve been less successful at following the story. One thing I do know is that you’ll want to take your time with Mirror. It is a densely-enjoyable read. Not to be missed.
