After that absolutely brutal charms class, Edgar had a lot of pent up feelings. They hadn’t even been back for a month and he already felt emotionally exhausted. First had been his conversation with Amelia and now he’d just snapped about the rumors. The worst part about all of this is now he’d put a target on Amelia’s back and while he trusted she could protect herself Lestrange was a bloody psychopath. He’d sure as hell play dirty if he had to and now he had to find a way to get people to watch over his sister without her knowledge. She’d be pissed if she knew after all. He headed towards the Ravenclaw common room, trying to see if he could catch up with Emmeline before she reached the dorms. Thankfully he hadn’t gotten out much after her and spotted the top of her head. “Emme!” he called out, catching up with her and tapping her shoulder lightly. “Emmeline I was wondering if we could talk, I just, need to clear my head you know.”

rosmerta had heard her fair share of bullshit at the three broomsticks. she had grown up at the bar and had inherited it when her father decided to move back to ireland. it was the nature of the job, but some days it was easier to listen to than others. usually she found it interesting. she was of the thought process that drunk words were sober thoughts. but other days, it was too much and she zoned out what the drunken people said. 

grabbing the beer emmeline had ordered, roz shuffled back to the younger woman and handed it to her. “can you believe some of the shit these people say?” she asked quietly to the woman across from her as she rolled her eyes. “for fucks sake,” she muttered under her breath as she grabbed a towel and wiped down the condensation that had accumulated on the bar in front of her.

“you can’t see it, but i’m rolling my eyes.”

                       –        “  yeah  ,  you’re  not  the  first  to.  ”  she’s  speaking  with  her  back  turned  to  the  other  girl  ,  hands  moving  the  canned  food  she’s  collected  from  the  homes  in  her  old  neighborhood.  she  stops  moving  the  canned  corn  to  write  down  the  number  in  her  grid-lined  notebook  before  turning  around  to  emmeline.          “  but  i’m  being  serious.  i  know  it’s  probably  premature  but  rationing  isn’t  a  bad  idea  ,  right  ?  ”  she  takes  her  bottom  lip  between  her  teeth.  she  wonders  if  she’s  being  an  overzealous  eighteen  year  old  ,  like  a  doomsdayer  preparing  for  the  worst  thing  that’s  not  going  to  come.          “  you  know  what  ?  you’re  right  ,  forget  i  said  anything.  ”

A DIVERGING PATH

          →   have you been re-introduced to EMMELINE VANCE? last we heard, the PUREBLOOD was most familiar with TIMELINE TWO. I don’t recall if they were always a GRYFFINDOR, but I’ve heard the SEVENTH YEAR is still INTELLIGENT, COMPASSIONATE, HONEST and HOT-HEADED, UNTRUSTING, OVER-PROTECTIVE, so that’s familiar. at least SHE remembers their way around the castle.

THEIR LIFE IN FULL

         →   when emmeline was five years old, her older brother, who was seven at the time,  drowned, and that affected her family in a drastic way, her parents became overly cautious and distant.  when she came to hogwarts she had a hard time talking to others, and was always very guarded, there weren’t many that really knew her. she went through a reckless period of her her life a few years back, not to a huge extent, and it still somewhat lingers with her now. she would always choose a slightly more dangerous path, it started to cease once the war stated though.

          →   emmeline always did well in school, she tends to focus on her studies when bad or confusing things are happening around her. she uses school as an outlet and a way to hide. when she doesn’t want to do something, she uses her schoolwork as an excuse. her favorite spot all throughout hogwarts was this little nook in the library, hidden in the back where others seldom went.

          →   emmeline is pretty scared of water, and when she was in first year, some others in her year found out about it, and pulled a prank on her, pushing her into the lake. they didn’t know how big of a deal it was to her, or just how scared she was. luckily it was into very shallow water, but she was terrified, and went she made her way out she bolted back up to the castle and cried in an empty classroom for over an hour, afraid to come back out. a professor eventually found her, and they were very kind to her and made her feel a lot better.

A WORLD UPSIDE DOWN

          →   everything was different now. emmeline no longer had a clue how to act around her family, so in the time leading up to her return to hogwarts she was never home, constantly sneaking out. she couldn’t be around a family with a completely different set of memories than her. her parents were affectionate and she didn’t know how to return it, and then there was him…. her brother. as if nothing had happened, because it hadn’t. it felt like he was a ghost. every time emmeline looked at him she saw the cold, dead body of the brother she remembered. so she left. she told her parents she was visiting friends from hogwarts, and instead she went on long walks to unknown places. returning to hogwarts would be a relief, but she was afraid that there would be some, like her parents, that knew her as the bubbly and outgoing girl who never went through the tragedy of losing a sibling.
