Summers Place Auctions are delighted to have the opportunity to sell The Craddock Collection Part I with estimates from £50 upwards. This is a highly unusual collection with a strong focus on big game dating from the late nineteenth century to the years before the Second World War. The collection contains over 100 lots of taxidermy including one of the finest collections of big cat material and antique big game trophies amassed over many years by Aide Craddock and his father. Each item could stand alone as a particularly fine or unusual piece; some had been collected by celebrated hunters of the nineteenth century or early years of the twentieth, and almost all are on shields provided by the great natural history suppliers of the era: Rowland Ward, van Ingen brothers, Gerrard's and Theobald of Mysore. Also being offered in the collection are, elephant and rhinoceros feet, hippopotamus tusks, walrus tusks etc. To complement this collection we will also be offering Part II of the Emmen Zoo Collection of Natural History drawings and watercolours.
