deux — THEIR STORY
Trigger Warnings: ableism, childhood illness, hearing loss, deafness
emmett was born to his parents on december 25th, 1994. for the first few years of their life, they were a happy child, rarely seen without a smile on their face. this was a trait he would retain in life, through even the most difficult situations. but, once they reached the age of 4, they fell ill with meningitis, caused by an ear infection that had gone unnoticed. the doctors tried to treat emmett as best they could and while he did survive this illness, he suffered severe hearing loss. it seemed that despite approaching life with his best foot forward, he had already been thrown a curveball.
neither of emmett’s parents were hard of hearing, so having a nearly deaf child proved to be a struggle in the early years of their life. they didn’t want to try a cochlear implant until he was old enough to understand and communicate what he wanted, so his parents taught him asl and how to lipread. with these skills, emmett quickly learned how to communicate with others via lipreading, knowing that not everyone spoke sign language. they were able to live out their childhood as a normal child would, despite not being able to hear very well.
throughout elementary school, he gained a large number of friends by having a cheery personality. they could manage to draw out a smile from even the loneliest kid in school just by being their goofy self. emmett was aptly dubbed the “class clown”, because he was always trying to find new ways to make others laugh.
when he reached the age of 13, his parents decided that it was time to ask emmett if he wanted to have a hearing aid or cochlear implant. they turned down this offer, with a smile and “why should i get one? i have a normal life without it”. they saw trying this as changing a part of who they were, because they were able to communicate with what other hard of hearing kids they knew in school. had he not been taught sign language from a young age, he most likely wouldn’t have been able to befriend these kids. knowing that he could talk to them in a way that normalised their(and his) disability warmed his heart.
upon becoming a teenager, emmett realized that while they did identify with being a man, this wasn’t always how they felt. so, he came to the decision that he identified the most with the gender demiboy, because it described his relationship with gender the most. as a result, they began using he/they pronouns in their day-to-day life. he eventually came out to his parents and told them about his identity regarding gender, but they were simply happy that emmett felt they had a good enough relationship with them to truly be themselves.
when he reached high school age, he decided that he wanted to advocate for american sign language being taught in schools. not only would it be beneficial for children who weren’t able to speak yet, but it would give deaf and hard of hearing children a tool besides lipreading for communication. in their head, if it was more widespread hard of hearing people, both adults and children, wouldn’t have to worry about not being communicate with someone in certain situations. emmett wanted to make the world a more accessible, inclusive space by adding this to standardized education. in order to achieve this goal, they worked very hard to get good grades in high school so they could get into a good university.
in the end, emmett’s hard work paid off and they were accepted to the university of north florida, where he majored in american sign language. studying sign language only furthered his passion of making disabilities viewed as more normal to able-bodied people. even though being disabled had no affect on their life besides not being hearing, he had been talked to like they were incompetent at several points his life. all because he couldn’t hear, which really didn’t affect what they were capable of doing. the thought of someone being considered incapable of doing something because of their disability made emmett sad, so they wanted to show people that a disability didn’t prevent people from doing anything they wanted.
by the time they had reached age 22, emmett had graduated from college and had finally decided that he wanted to try a hearing aid. he wanted to know if it would work for them and if he didn’t like it they could choose to not wear it. unfortunately, the hearing aid only improved their hearing by a little. he wasn’t very dismayed by this, because they had already welcomed living life without most of his hearing.
he had taken a semester abroad in college in paris and immediately fell in love with the city. they knew that they’d have to learn a new version of sign language, but he took this as nothing more than an opportunity to learn something new. so, he dedicated himself to learning french sign language and decided to move back to paris after they graduated from college. this is where they’ve resided ever since graduating and he’s currently in the process of trying to figure out where they want to go next in their life. all he knows is he hopes it involves sign language, but they’re sure they’ll find something to love.
trois — THEIR PERSONALITY
+ hardworking, kind, cheerful

Emmett's Tartosa Vacation... ✈️
These screenshots are from a recent collab with my good friend @JJSimsT from X/Twitter. Please go show him lots of love and support for his amazing work. 💞
Emmett decided to get away from life’s stress and vacationed in Tartosa. ✈️
Once settled in his room, Emmett decided to check out the pool, but his eyes were drawn to a gorgeous blonde twink lounging at the pool. 🌊
Emmett tried to get up the nerves to speak to him; however, kept getting cold feet. But he had the feeling that he was also being checked out too. 👀
Emmett was so turned on that he had to go back to his room to “take care of business” before going downstairs for dinner at the hotel’s bistro and bar. 🚿
Once going downstairs, who did Emmett see? The super-hot twink looking lonely with a glass a wine. He decided this was his shot and made a move… 😏
Emmett discovered his name was Marcelo and felt his heart skip a beat. He couldn’t get over how sweet and adorable Marcelo was and asked him to dance. 💞
The heat between these two was off the charts and before either guy knew what was happening, they ended up back in Emmett’s hotel room. ❤️🔥
And that's where we'll have to leave it as the rest is way too spicy for Tumblr, but you can see the rest on either Bluesky or X/Twitter if your curious. ❤️🔥

starter for: @emmett-moore location: la bibimerie time: peak lunch time
Micayla needed to be at Le Rouge early this afternoon to go through inventory with Finn. So, she headed to her favorite lunch spot in Entrepot, La Bibimerie, just a few blocks from Le Rouge. But apparently, half of Paris had the same idea she noticed with a grimace. Upon placing her at the counter, Micayla turned around to find a spot to sit at. After looking around the entire time she waited for her food and still not finding a single open table, her gaze fell upon a somewhat familiar face. She knew them from Le Rouge - or rather, had seen them at her club, she didn’t actually know the person - so she figured a somewhat familiar face was better than a complete stranger. With a resigned sigh, she headed over to their table. “Excusez-moi, cette place est-elle prise / Excuse me, is this seat taken ?” she asked hopefully. “It seems everywhere else is taken.” she added as an explanation, glancing around at the bustling restaurant as if to prove her point.

NDS Shout Out:
Mamushka's Midtown is now open! The bar / event space hopes to bridge the gap between Midtown, the Design District, & Wynwood with cool music and cheap drinks. The concept will remind everyone of BAR or the old PS14, but the space definitely has a new character and spirit.
Emmett Moore, friend of NDS and artist showing in Hard Poems in Space at the NDS showroom, designed the space's interior. He and the Mamushka's crew revamped the former gallery space, resurfacing the majority of it including a mirrored stained glass cube that now houses DJs, recontextualizing its former history. The design even includes hidden visual references to David Lynch, abstractions of the Caribbean, Yves Klein & more, and will evolve over time.
Mamushka's is located on 31 NW 36th Street -- only a few blocks down the street from Nektar De Stagni Shop.
