It’s an absolute delight to see Denver melodic bass tycoon ILLENIUM partnering up with Minneapolis alt hip hop artist Call Me Karizma on a fresh new track, having supported both these artists years ahead of their current level of colossal success. It’s a union that we didn’t quite expect, since their styles differ so much, but the two work some immense magic on God Damnit to give us an alt and emo flavored melodic bass anthem that slides right in with the current ground-breaking sounds seeping into the electronic music scene. Misty, wistful sentiment abounds on the pensively somber, beautifully cathartic composition, a pristine combination of Call Me Karizma’s emo post pop/gritty hip hop and ILLENIUM’s expansive, widescreen production strokes. A happenstance discovery, or a blessing of an encounter, brought us to outsideOUTSIDE, a new alt project entirely shrouded in mystery. Try as we might, we can’t find anything about the band. Their socials are devoid of description. But outsideOUTSIDE has released an exceptional first single named Habits, a poignant and crestfallen mixture of dusky electronica, glitchy shuddering vocal bass, and raspy aching emo alt rock. It’s almost as if EDEN, Twenty One Pilots, and ECHOS came together to create a vulnerable and emotive genre defying tour de force. Habits comes accompanied by a music video which you can watch below.
