i'm listening to the distant worlds soundtrack and getting so emotional right now. honestly the orchestral rendition of to zanarkand kills me every time. and don't get me started on fisherman's horizon, that one just straight out sucker-punches me right in the feels

six by comrades, seven alone

so today i had lunch with my university friends, just 5 of us out of a huge group, and naturally, as we always tend to do, we ended up talking about our manchester days and all the things we used to get up to. and halfway g and zj said, "remember how she swore that she'd never use an iphone? and how she'd never buy a branded bag? and like three months ago she swore she'd never watch game of thrones and now she's addicted," and everyone started going on about how i always made these strong statements and always caved in the end. laughing, i looked at them and wanted to say, "you are so precious to me that i don't know what i would do without you in my life." i mean these are the kind of people who remember every ridiculous thing that i say and do, and i guess what i'm ultimately trying to say is that i need more friends like them in my life because it's been 8 years of friendship and they're still the only ones that understand when sometimes i say sadly, "i miss those grey cold days when it seemed like winter would never end," and they would sigh, and we would all be quiet together, united in our memories and our nostalgia. more then anyone, they understand what it means when i say that the past is a country that we can never escape from.
