hiiii, non-human friends :33333 my fox tail arrived today!!!!
I saw a TikTok the other day with several million likes that said something along the lines of “my little sister is a therian and wearing cat ears to school and im so scared for her” and like. Weird video obviously but what really did me in was a comment that said “my younger sister was also a therian, im glad I bullied her out of it, it was for her own good :(“ and it had like several thousand likes. are you people okay. that is such a miserable way of living your life. bullying someone out of doing something is already disgusting but for it to be your younger sister, someone who looks up to you? and for what? because you’re afraid they might get bullied? congratulations! you’ve just become their first bully! you have just mocked and scared them out of a passion or something that brings them joy most likely because YOU’RE embarrassed. what an awful way to live and treat others
my maybe controversial therian opinion is that i have never been able to figure out why we prioritize human life over animals. i think it's just an anthropocentrism thing. there's like... no real reason for it. i also think it's because i'm autistic and my sense of empathy is a little ...warped? but i still don't get it lol
a lot of therian and otherkin positivity i see from non-therian/otherkin just feels so…infantilizing. like instead of just a perfectly fine “guys, respect who they are, respect their choices, it’s not harming your they’re perfectly valid” a lot of it is like “guys, respect their choices, some of them are just playing around! kids love to play dress up and pretend to be their favorite animals! it’s normal and they might even grow out of it! everyone needs some community” and it’s just like. weird. we aren’t kids (at least a lot of us aren’t), our identities aren’t just something we “grow out of.” stop talking about us like it’s just a phase and the only reason you should respect us is that “everybody does weird stuff to cope.” please just treat us normally.
hey. Hey you. someone nervously scrolling through the therian tag rn. guess what. there are no rules. everything is up to you. if you want to be a therian guess what? you probably are a therian
did i ever tell yall that one time i got into a physical fight in elementary school. and it was like, 4th grade so people were physically fighting, but not actually genuinely punching each other and stuff. it just looked like an awkward wrestle for about thirty seconds.
one time i was basically enlisted to fight someone cause i got into an argument with them during class. it was ridiculous, it was over playdoh, but this dude ripped up my playdoh assignment and i drew a picture of him getting stomped on and it was a whole thing, and everyone wanted us to fight Real Bad.
and i'll preface by saying i was a weird kid (and now i'm still weird). like my therian stuff is not a recent thing i was feeling canine back then too. i was the type to look off in the distance at recess imagining being a wolf or walk on all fours underneath tables where i thought people couldn't see me.
so the fight comes around and i don't really know what's happening. also it's not that impressive. it's in a dirty hallway and there's like half our class watching us, and they all look bored cause neither me or this dude are doing anything, we're both just Looking at each other.
and then he lunges towards me, like - faking a punch, i guess. and my dumb 10 year old therian ass went, oh yes, i know what to do in this situation. i get down on the ground and start BARRELING towards him at full speed, on all fours completely uncoordinated. my teeth are bared and hella crooked and i'm making some sort of weird evil guttural noise.
i have never seen someone look that scared in my life.
when i say he took off down the hall i mean took off. i mean started running and looking back like, holy bejeezus what the frick this weird autistic dog not-girl is going to bite my ankles off. the class that's watching is also like, what the heck and they start backing away. and of course one of them freaks and starts screaming for the teacher.
i got lunch detention for 3 days.
possessive animal instincts make me feel so safe when they're fulfilled. like when i get to sit pressed up side by side against my friend or drape my head on the shoulder of someone i love it's SO GOOD
