"he was emo for a long time and even tried to kill himself a couple of times there" - which moments do you mean, exactly? :) Right now I can only think of Daleks in Manhattan where he's like "Kill me, just do it, DO IT". Is there other moments you can think of? :)

Well you seem to be forgetting the most obvious one, which also happens to be the episode right after Rose disappears in front of him: The Runaway Bride. When he is killing the Racnoss mama and babies .. he just stands there. He was just going to let himself get killed along with them if it wasn't for Donna pulling him out of it. He's emo Doctor for all of season 3 (which I think is a reason why his hair is fantastic .. you know how when things around you start falling apart, you try to control one thing .. it just happened to be his hair .. at least that's what I do too lol). I would count the Human Nature episodes too .. but that's a whole other discussion.
