how i feel about each girl from Devil’s Night (because someone had to say it):
Erika "Rika" Fane
I’m sorry but… no. Just no. Something about her has always rubbed me the wrong way. She's got the depth of a Pinterest quote and the emotional maturity of a wet sock. I’m not saying all her problems are her fault, but she’s definitely the type to light a match and act confused when there’s a fire.
Winter Ashby
Could have been everything if they’d just given her her own arc. I wanted to love her, I really did. But it’s hard when she feels more like Damon’s emotional support human than a full character. Like… give her something other than “mysterious and pure.” Her potential was THERE.
Nikova "Nik" Banks
I wanted to love her. She had fire, mystery, edge—on paper. But in execution? Something about her with the others always felt… off. Like she was either trying too hard or not trying at all. She never quite clicked. There’s a dissonance between how the story wants you to feel about her vs how she actually comes across.
Emory Scott
The one. The only. The girl who got it. The one with depth, softness, anger, realness, pain, heart. She didn’t need to be loud. She didn’t need a whole circus. And yet she still stood out. She’s the type of girl who saves herself, even if it hurts.
Please let the next Penelope Douglas girl have range, depth, and at least one moment where she isn’t just reacting to a man. I am begging.
