16 hours so far, still not 100% done, and a borderline idiotic amount of silver involved, considering my last few pieces. I might need help learning what “simple” means, as I keep making these simple line drawings and decide to make it into other things that no longer qualify as simple. The last piece I made, the Labradorite “Stars Fell on Alabama” piece was completed on Monday, but I forgot to post pictures. Without even resting my fingers, I jumped into this monster... The Perfectionist in me says she needs a little more help... but I love the meaning of the Hamsa. And I was thinking about how this symbol and all of its different versions across the world have transcended religions and languages, almost an unspoken common denominator for representing the person or people or culture, not the group who you read about being so different, and feeling unable to relate. This drawing has changed and evolved and adapted to become relatable and personal to every people who has adopted it. Maybe human beings in general need to also to keep that in mind when dealing with something new or unfamiliar, which is sometimes overwhelming or frightening. Even then, we have to adapt and grow, but with reassurance that the common thread of humanity is there. Once again folks, it’s after midnight, and I have been all I can be.
