it wasn’t unusual for them to spend their free time in each others’ company, and it certainly wasn’t unusual for shiro to lay there, cradled in keith’s arms, his breath faint against his head, his touch burning. it wasn’t unusual for shiro to ask, stay with me tonight, and it wasn’t usual to see raw emotion in his eyes as he pleaded, to see the loneliness and desperation. there were no better times and a better feeling of security than being in keith’s arms, he decided long ago —— home was where he was.
it certainly wasn’t unusual for shiro to place his head as nearest to keith’s heart as possible, to nestle his face in the crook of his neck, both arms around his waist to bring him any closer, to bring the both of them closer. it was comforting, and the both of them knew it —— it grounded shiro, kept him in the same plane, prevented him from dissolving and going to a different place entirely.
it wasn’t unusual, to have a pounding headache right after a particular episode. “ keith. “ it wasn’t usual to hear such a strain in his voice, though. “ it’s ... happening, again. “ whether from the warmth slowly seeping from his body, the coldness touching upon his skin wherever keith’s touch couldn’t reach, but shiro trembled, curling fingers in the other man’s shirt with a frantic grip. and it most certainly wasn’t usual where he couldn’t keep shiro grounded, couldn’t glue together his mind before he left. this just happened to be one of the rare times.
